The Racing Hondas Championship has released its draft regulations for the 2026 season, outlining a number of proposed amendments to both the Sporting and Technical Regulations.
The document is provisional and remains subject to review and approval by the sport’s governing body, Motorsport UK, in the coming months.
Key proposed changes include:
• Race 2 grid reversal – the number of places reversed at the front of each class now changed to positions 1-5 (replacing the 4-8 system trialled in 2025)
• Points previously awarded for qualifying positions 1-5 have been discontinued
• Class A: Turbocharging will be permitted where the turbo unit was originally fitted by the manufacturer to that model
• Class A: Sequential gearboxes will no longer be permitted
• Class B: Only standard engines to Group N regulations are permitted
The draft document also includes technical regulations for the new open-topped S2000R car, which is set to compete in its own S2000 Cup class within the championship.

Championship Co-ordinator Carl McKellar:
“While these are not the final regulations, we wanted to give teams, drivers and those considering joining the grid an early indication of what we are planning for 2026.
“They should be treated as a strong guide only and not considered final until approved by Motorsport UK.
“As always, the draft regulations are shaped by feedback from our teams and drivers and are designed to offer greater freedom and innovation while keeping budgets under control.
“The Racing Hondas Championship continues to provide one of the most exciting and cost-effective grids in UK club motorsport, with crowd numbers in some cases exceeding 12,000 spectators.
“We very much welcome enquiries from team and drivers looking to re-invigorate their motorsport plans in 2026.”
Entries for the 2026 Racing Hondas Championship are now open, with an Early Bird rate available.
A full season registration, including entry to all eight rounds, is priced at £3,520 (including VAT) if paid by 1 March 2026.
