The Class A title race between Will Self and Phil Wright is set for a dramatic showdown on Finals Day at Snetterton this weekend – and could also prove decisive in determining the Overall Championship runner-up.

Self carries a 31-point advantage over Wright (178 vs 147) into Sunday’s final two rounds, with a maximum of 37 points still available.

Meanwhile, Ryan Cunningham, already assured of second in Class B, sits just five points behind Self overall on 173, meaning Runner-up spot in the outright standings could yet go to any of the three depending on how results unfold across their respective classes.

The maths in Class A are relatively straightforward.

Self has a first match point before racing even begins – if he qualifies inside the top five and ahead of Wright, he could secure the title early.

Bonus points for the top five in qualifying (5-4-3-2-1) could move him at least 32 points clear, exactly matching the number still available from the two races (15 for a win plus 1 for fastest lap in each).

In that scenario, Wright could no longer overhaul him, even in the event of a tie, as he cannot match Self’s superior six race wins to two.

To keep the fight alive into the final round (Race 16), Wright effectively needs to take pole, finish in the top two in Race 1, and hope Self fails to score – a tall order, but Finals Day often delivers its share of surprises.

Behind them, Liam Collins (122 pts) will be looking to cap off a strong campaign with a long-overdue first win, having shown pace and consistency all season but just missed out on victory.

Tommy Knight (120) is also keen to end the year on a high after a very strong second half of the season. Early-season leader Kevin Talbot (103) and Knockhill double-winner Bob Barron (95) could still influence the final top five. That’s not discounting Dave Buky, Fraser McNeill and James Alford who could all mix things up further.

In Class B, Dan Thackeray and Cunningham have secured first and second. Cunningham’s focus will be on securing the Overall Championship Runner-up trophy, but goes into the event five points behind Class A leader Self.

Meanwhile, Sam Linssner’s hold on third in Class B is under threat from Lewis Barker, who is 32 points behind with a maximum 37 still up for grabs.

The contest for fourth is equally close: Barker leads Spencer Fortag by nine points, with Sammy Mileham another nine back.

Barker has been in fine form lately, Fortag will be eager to bounce back after a run of bad luck, and Mileham – who has led twice this season, most recently at Brands Hatch in September – will be pushing hard for a long-awaited first podium. That one really could go to the last lap of the season and all will be wary of the improving Luke Krassismenou, Harry Greenhill and Duncan Holloway who could steal vital points off them.

Although Class C has been decided in Matt Rowling’s favour, still expect him and season-long rival Callum Houchen to be evenly matched in their final two head-to-heads of the season.

With titles, podiums and pride all on the line, Snetterton’s Finals Day promises high drama and fine margins as the 2025 Racing Hondas Championship reaches its climax.
