The Racing Hondas Championship’s new S2000 Cup car has successfully completed its initial shakedown at Donington Park.
The 240bhp, rear-wheel-drive machine – a specially developed version of the iconic Honda S2000 model – completed more than 40 laps of Donington’s full-length Grand Prix circuit in the hands of Tegiwa boss Luke Szediskowski.
Japanese performance car parts importer Tegiwa is playing a big part in the development of the car, dubbed the S2000R.
“Brilliant straight out of the box,” said Luke.
“Within no time the Craner Curves were flat, no lifting.
“The handling, the power band and braking are spot on and the engine is revving to around 9,000rpm mark which sounds as good as it feels.”
The 2000R will form the basis of a new S2000 Cup class within the Racing Hondas Championship in 2026.
Projected costs are c.£16k for a ‘self build’ version – that includes sourcing a road-going version for around £7,500 and then purchasing the necessary parts to build the car up to S2000R-spec from Tegiwa.
