Dan Brown’s Racing Hondas Civic EG has smashed the lap record for normally aspirated front wheel drive cars on the world-famous Nordschleife circuit.
Brown, 2024’s Racing Hondas Class A Champion, set a new time of 7 minutes and 20 seconds around the fearsome 19.km (11.9 mile) ‘Bridge to Gantry’ lap at Germany’s Nurburgring.

The lap includes a few hairy moments navigating slower cars plus a twitchy kerb-climbing save at the 8km mark between the Ausfahrt Breidscheld and Bergwerk sections.
Brown’s new time is an incredible NINE SECONDS under the previous mark for an N/A FWD car.
It’s also believed to be the fastest ever time for any type of Honda around the same lap.
Brown reflected: “It was nerve-racking taking the jump at Flugplatz flat for the first time.
“Traffic was very unpredictable and hard to manage; you’ve got to have a lot of luck on your side to get the perfect lap.
“It was very hard on the car due to the short gearing – it would ‘only’ do 137mph; really it needs gearing for 145 or more. With a higher V-max, less traffic and more seat time it would certainly go faster as is, probably into the 7:10 – 7:15 bracket.
“Can a sub 7-minute lap be achieved by a naturally aspirated FWD? Maybe we’ll find out next time.”
Brown travelled to the Nordschleife with close pal James (Civic EJ) fresh from competing in the Racing Hondas Championship’s most recent rounds at Snetterton where he also established a new lap record around the Norfolk venue’s full-length 300 circuit configuration.
