Dan Thackeray still leads the Racing Hondas Championship overall despite his 100% unbeaten run in Class B coming to an end at Brands Hatch.

Thackeray had been leading the B runners in the first of Brands’s two races only for a mechanical issue to force his Civic EP3 into retirement.

His demise was Motion Motorsport team-mate Ryan Cunningham’s gain – the reigning Champion sweeping by to take a first win in Class B.

Sam Linssner finished second on the road in class but a technical infringement with his car led to him being disqualified and the position instead was inherited by Onna Motorsport’s James Kembrey.

Thackeray returned to winning ways in Race 2 after coming through from P7 in class on the reversed grid.

Cunningham was second with Trevor McConnell taking a strong P3 in his eponymous team’s EP3 – he’d been awarded P3 in the day’s earlier Race 1 following Linssner’s disqualification.

Thackeray continues to lead the Class B and outright points standings but by the reduced margin of just nine points from Cunningham.

The action in Class B was exceptional throughout the day with the likes of BSR/Europa Crash Centre’s Lewis Barker (EP3), Spencer Fortag (Civic FN2) and Sammy Mileham (Kinetic EP3) all well in the mix as well.

Mileham led the class in the early stages of Races 2 before a recurring electrical problem with his car caused him to tumble down the order. Onna’s Duncan Holloway also enjoyed his moment in the limelight by starting from the class pole following the reversed grid draw.

Matt Rowling remains ahead of Callum Houchen in their Class C fight although his EP3 retired towards the end of Race 2 in a tangle with Andy Barnes’s FN2 which was also eliminated.

Houchen, following close behind them at the time, thus picked up the win after Rowling at narrowly pipped Barnes in Race 1.
