Dan Thackeray maintained his 100% perfect start to the season in class B with another maximum score in Donington Park’s Racing Hondas rounds.

Just as in Cadwell Park’s opening rounds, Thackeray qualified on the class pole and won twice in the division with the additional bonus points for a pair of fastest laps too.

In Race 1 he even ran as high as third outright as his nimble Civic EP3 took advantage of the wet conditions to mix it with the leading Class A cars.

Having started P6 in class on Race 2’s reversed grid, he was soon up with Spencer Fortag’s much-improved Civic FN2 which he passed for the class lead in a classy move at the Old Hairpin.

Leaving Donington, Thackeray has extended his Class B lead over Motion Motorsport team-mate Ryan Cunningham to 20 points and leads both Cunningham and Class A leader Kevin Talbot by the same amount in the outright standings.

Cunningham, last year’s outright Champion, was second to Thackeray in Race 1 but in Race 2 was unable to find a way past Fortag so was kept back in third.

Sam Linssner (Civic EP3) was the day’s other podium finisher with a P3 in Race 1. There were also improved performances from his Ben Sharpe Racing team-mate Lewis Barker with a pair of P4s in class and lap times comparable with the podium finishers.

In Class C, the guesting Andy Barnes took the wins in his FAW Motorsport-prepared FN2and Race 1’s tricky wet conditions even mixed it with many of the Class B runners as well as some Class A cars.

Of those eligible to score points, privateer Matt Rowling and FAW’s Callum Houchen took turns to beat one another into P2 (Rowling recovering from an opening lap altercation in Race 1). Rowling leads Houchen by 12 points heading to Brands Hatch’s rounds in mid-May.
