The fantastic Racing Hondas Championship’s new season finally gets under way with its opening two rounds of 2025 at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday 5 May, where questions about who’s got their sums right over the winter will start to be answered.

2024 saw Racing Hondas become arguably the UK’s favourite club-level motor racing championship – a remarkable feat in only its second year.

Huge crowds, bumper grids and intense competition made for compelling viewing and more of the same is in store this year…

Three different classes (based on cars’ power-to-weight ratio) will be fought. Headlining them in terms of raw power and dramatic looking cars is Class A – effectively for ‘silhouette’ machinery.

Dan Brown and Liam Collins – first and second in the class in 2024 following a season-long duel (pictured above) – have to be among the favourites in their much-refreshed Civic EG and Integra DC2 cars. Ryan Jenkinson (third in 2024) is also back in an Integra ‘new build’ as is Cadwell local and 2024 final round winner Phil Wright who is hoping for rain to enable his Civic EP3 to come into its own.

Based on 2024 form, Kevin Talbot and James Alford won’t be far away.

Amongst the newcomers is the experienced Will Self and ‘word on the street’ is his purpose-built Civic EG could be hard to beat.

Class B front-runners from last year, Dave Buky and Tommy Knight, are also ‘ones to watch’ on their Class A debuts, both in Civic EGs.

Ryan Cunningham dominated Class C to win the outright crown in 2024 but he could find things more difficult as he progresses to Class B.

Dan Thackeray, a prolific winner in Civics, will be alongside him in the Motion Motorsport line-up whilst two of Cunningham’s closest Class C rivals from 2024, Sam Linssner and Spencer Fortag, have followed him into the B division where they hope to be much closer to the front.

In Class C, expect a titanic battle for supremacy between Callum Houchen and Matt Rowling.

A 30-car entry has been received for Cadwell’s season-opener and further underlining the championship’s popularity is the fact that drivers from as far afield as Exeter (Rick O’Connell), Glasgow (Fraser McNeill) and north of Aberdeen (Bob Barron), plus Omagh (Trevor McConnell) are all venturing to the Lincolnshire circuit to be part of the action.
