2024 Class A Champion Dan Brown says he hopes upgrades to his Class A title-winning Civic EG will help find him “a second a lap” in 2025.
The Bristolian racked up an impressive 11 wins outright in the Racing Hondas Championship’s 16 rounds in 2024 – his regular head-to-head duels with Liam Collins (supercharged Integra DC2) becoming one of UK motorsport’s most exciting rivalries.
Brown said: “I’m looking for a second a lap in 2025 and I think I’ll need it.
“From what I’m hearing people are going to be finding more again so I can’t afford to sit still.
“I’m hoping the tweaks I can make to the car, plus more seat time in it, can equate to a decent chunk of time, depending on what circuit we’re at.
“I know other people have got to announce their plans yet, but it sounds like the fight at the front in Racing Hondas next season is going to be dynamite.”
Brown said finding extra performance from his EG will be a combination of small gains here and there.
“We were pretty much right on the limit with the power-to-weight regulations but there’s always room for improvement.
“I’ll be taking a look at the exhaust system and maybe doing an engine re-map, plus revamping the aerodynamics.
“Now there’s a wheel size limit in place for 2025 also means people aren’t gaining an advantage by simply sticking on the biggest widest tyres they can find.
“I think we should be in decent shape again but you never know quite what other people have up their sleeve.”
