The Racing Hondas Championship has made provisional tweaks to a number of its key sporting and technical regulations for the 2025 season.
The three main changes are designed to create even more excitement on track, further reward achievement and tighten up performance between normally aspirated and supercharged cars in Class A (for prototype-spec cars).
2025’s provisional Sporting Regulations include:
• Reversed grid format for Race 2: the grid to be decided by finishing positions of Race 1 but with up to the top 8 positions reversed (numbers 4 to 8 to be drawn following Race 1)
• The ‘2 dropped scores’ system remains. However, drivers will not be permitted to drop their scores from the final two races (rounds) of the season
Under the provisional Technical Regulations:
• Class A: 240 bhp/ton for normally aspirated cars; reduced to 235 bhp/ton for supercharged cars
• Turbocharging is outlawed
Elsewhere, the technical regulations will broadly remain the same to ensure continuity and consistency for competitors.
For example, all engines used must continue to be from the common family of Honda engines (no other manufacturer). Combinations of engines (eg. different block married to different head) continue to be permitted.
Gearboxes in Class A remain ‘open’ without penalty (eg. sequential ‘flappy paddle’ or ‘push-pull’ types are permitted).
Technical regulations for class B and C remain chiefly unaffected.
Already announced for 2025 is a single specification of tyre across all classes – the Yokohama AO52 (control tyre). These will be limited to a width of 9” (9J) in Class A. Rim sizes for class B and C will remain at 8” (the exception being 9” for the S2000 model of car).
The above are included in the championship’s set of draft regulations which are set to be circulated shortly to expected participants/interested parties.
*Note, they will remain provisional until ratified by UK motorsport’s governing body, MSAUK, and therefore remain subject to change.
Entries for the 2025 Racing Hondas Championship will open on 1 January 2025. Those who register for the championship by 24 March will pay £3280 for the full season ahead – this includes all entry and registration fees as well as any VAT. The first 34 drivers to register will guarantee themselves a place on the grid.
