Kevin Talbot says he will be back on the Racing Hondas grid in 2025 but first wants to finish 2024 with a top three placing in Class A.
Talbot is one of SIX drivers who can still finish P3 in Class A heading into the season finale at Snetterton on 20 October.
He currently lies seventh in the A standings – 22 points off Ryan Jenkinson who currently holds the place with a maximum of 37 up for grabs at the Norfolk circuit.
Whoever finishes P3 will win a paid-for registration into 2025’s championship, courtesy of Tegiwa.
Talbot, a shunter on the railways by day, goes into the event on a high after two P2s at Brands Hatch where his Integra DC5 got between the championship pace-setters, Dan Brown’s Civic Bali and Liam Collins’s Integra DC2.
“I’m doing a rain dance for Snetterton!” says the 39-year-old from Watford. “My car seems really well suited to the wet conditions and that’s what helped me fight with Dan and Liam at Brands being honest.
“It’s more than 60kgs overweight but the rain levels things up a bit. Let’s see if we can lighten it a bit more for Snett and then give it the full beans.”
He adds: “It’s now three podiums from the last four rounds after the P3 at Donington as well and I feel we’ve largely had the pace to be P3 all season – we’ve just been a bit unlucky but others have, too.”
Talbot says work on his DC5 will continue in the off-season as he aim to come back even stronger in 2025.
“It’s my first full season of car racing and I’ve been very impressed by how the championship is run, the organisation and communication.
“Also how much input the drivers are allowed to have and Time Attack has the final say – we can to a degree make our own rules and we’re not beholden to another club.
“Growing up, I didn’t want to be a firefighter or astronaut – I wanted to be a racing driver and that’s how Racing Hondas makes me feel, particularly with the large crowds which you just don’t get in other club-level motorsport.”
The Racing Hondas season finale on Sunday 20 October is part of organiser Club Time Attack’s huge Modified Live show which is set to attract thousands of modified cars and public to the Snetterton circuit. CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
