In an exciting change to the original schedule, the capacity 34-car Racing Hondas grid will now race on Oulton Park’s full-length International circuit configuration when the championship visits the famous Cheshire venue in July.

The championship’s drivers voted overwhelmingly to switch to the longer 2.69-mile International when given the option (as opposed to the shorter Island lay-out).

“When I think of Oulton I think of the International – there’s more driver input that can be rewarded,” enthused Liam Collins who achieved his first outright win in Racing Hondas last time out at Cadwell Park.

He added: “The circuit will also give such a large field of cars a bit more space to breathe on the opening lap – there won’t be concertina effect you normally get into the tight hairpin on the shorter circuit which could have spelt trouble.”

Class B racer Carl Swan (Civic FN2) commented: “I’ve raced on both layouts – the National and the International – and the International is definitely an epic. It reminds me more of a Cadwell Park which all drivers love.

“The Shell hairpin at the far side of the International is a cracking corner with the banking. Also, the more space we’ve got with such a big grid the better.”

And said Class C competitor David Lawrence (FN2): “I’d prefer the longer International circuit – it’s a bit more flowing than the Island lay-out.

“The Shell hairpin is great corner and if you can get it right then it can really tell with the lap time. It should also create more opportunities for overtaking.”

Oulton Park’s International circuit will host rounds 9 & 10 of this season’s Racing Hondas Championship on Sunday 20 July.

Also in action will be the latest rounds of the Time Attack UK and MSUK Drift Pro championships.

Thousands of public are anticipated as the day also hosts the Club Time Attack organisation’s Tunerfest North event – always hugely popular with the modified and tuning communities and car clubs.
