Barron signs off with Cadwell Park double as Barker and Boston share Class B honours

The Racing Hondas Championship brought its 2026 racing season to a close at Cadwell Park as part of Modified LIVE, with the final two races producing plenty of action across both classes.

Bob Barron ended the year in commanding fashion with two Class A victories and two fastest laps, while Class B honours were shared between Lewis Barker and SRE entrant Rob Boston as the final chequered flags of the season fell.

CLASS A — Barron completes the season with a dominant double

After setting the pace in morning practice, Bob Barron carried that speed into qualifying with a 1:34.997 to secure pole position. Dave Buky joined him on the front row with a 1:35.994, while Fraser McNeill took third despite a difficult session.

Race 1 saw Buky briefly ahead during the opening exchanges, before Barron regained the lead on the first lap. Once in front, Barron began to pull clear.

Behind them, James Alford also made an excellent start to move ahead of Michael Barron, while McNeill was beginning his own recovery. Mechanical problems subsequently forced both Buky and Michael Barron into retirement, while McNeill worked his way into second and Alford completed the podium.

At the front there was no stopping Barron. He crossed the line 17.024 seconds clear of McNeill, with Alford another 1.746 seconds behind in third. Barron also claimed the fastest Class A lap with a 1:34.940.

The reversed order for Race 2 put Alford on pole alongside McNeill, with Barron beginning the final race of the season from third.

McNeill made the best start and led into Coppice, but Barron was quickly on the attack. By the first visit to The Mountain he had worked his way past McNeill and into a lead he would not surrender.

While Barron began to establish himself at the front, the battle behind remained much closer. McNeill, Alford and SRE entrant Michael Barron fought over second throughout the race, with McNeill eventually securing the position by just 0.731 seconds from Alford. Michael Barron finished another 1.423 seconds behind in fourth.

Buky recovered from an unfortunate opening lap to finish fifth in Class A, while Barron completed his perfect afternoon with victory by 5.981 seconds and another fastest lap — this time a 1:34.848.

CLASS B — Barker and Boston share the final honours

Rob Boston immediately demonstrated his pace around Cadwell Park, putting the SRE-entered S2000R third overall in practice before qualifying an impressive fourth overall and fastest of the Class B runners with a 1:37.628. Lewis Barker qualified second in class, with Andrew Layton third.

Race 1 turned that order around almost immediately.

Barker made an excellent start and grabbed the Class B lead on the opening lap. Boston was forced into an early pit stop, but recovered strongly after rejoining and worked his way back to second in class.

Barker remained clear at the front to take the Class B victory, finishing fourth overall, while Boston’s recovery brought him home second in class. Layton completed the top three, while Boston underlined his pace by recording the fastest Class B lap of the race with a 1:37.522.

Race 2 belonged to Boston.

He made a superb start and established himself at the head of Class B, maintaining the advantage throughout the race. Barker’s challenge was compromised by a rare mistake, but he recovered to finish second, with Layton completing the Class B order.

Boston finished fifth overall and completed his afternoon with another fastest Class B lap, lowering his best to 1:36.609.
